A SKIBBEREEN resident is calling for support for his plan to clean up a scenic spot in the town.

Ian Osbourne said he has recently discovered the wonderful tranquil location overlooking the town, which is known locally as ‘The Rock.’

‘It’s a really great place up there and a wonderful spot that I since discovered that many people didn’t even know existed,’ he said.

But he was disappointed to find it was being used as a drinking location and is often littered with spent cans and bottles, as well as general rubbish.

While he knows Skibbereen Tidy Towns is busy keeping the town ship-shape, he believes a group dedicated to keeping this scenic viewing point tidy, would be a great asset to the town.

‘I am calling on anyone interested to join me in a regular clean-up at The Rock,’ he said. ‘I can be contacted at 083 4889884.’
