ONE of the most exciting and spectacular weekends on the Kinsale events calendar is the Blue Haven Kinsale Vintage Rally, which takes place from May 8th to 11th.
With over 100 vintage cars on display in the town over the weekend, it should be a fun-filled family event.
The recent launch, which took place in the Blue Haven, was attended by the newly-crowned ‘Miss Ireland,’ Jessica Hayes, and a sample of some of the vintage cars that will be at the rally.
Now entering its 26th year, it is widely regarded as one of the premier events on the Irish classic car calendar.
Following the twinning of Kinsale with the Welsh town of Mumbles in 1990, the local vintage club also decided to twin with the Welsh town’s car club, the Swansea Historic Vehicle Register. Each year sees large numbers of members make the trip to Kinsale for the May rally – a gesture that is returned each July when the club makes the return trip to Swansea.
The Kinsale Vintage and Classic Motor Club was established in 1988 by a group of classic car enthusiasts and has since grown to a current membership of over 100.
All members share a common passion – their love of driving and preserving the classic cars.
