Inchydoney beach has been voted the top beach in Ireland by Tripadvisor reviewers.

INCHYDONEY beach has been voted the top beach in Ireland by Tripadvisor reviewers.

The beach, just outside Clonakilty in West Cork, beat such popular spots as Inch, Derrynane and Rossbeigh in Kerry, Lahinch in Clare and Curracloe in Wexford, to claim the top spot.

It is the second year in a row that the West Cork beach has been voted No 1 in Ireland.

A quick glance at the online reviews give some indication of why it’s such a much-loved spot, in summer or winter.

‘Love Inchydoney. Great for walking and playing with kids. Loads of open sand, lovely views … good for swimming when the swell is low,’ writes ‘IvanMcC’ from Cork.

Peter from Crawley in the UK says: ‘Absolutely stunning beach and no better place in the world to be when the sun is out.

‘Amazing sandy beaches (one on either side of the headland). surfing school, kite surfing, swimming, or simply lovely long walks,’ writes a North Yorkshire visitor.

RTE presenter Ray D’Arcy voiced his agreement with the vote, during his Radio 1 show this week.

It’s another boost for the Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, which has the amazing facility on its doorstep.
