Flood risk: heavy rainfall for Cork from now until Monday

THERE will be heavy rainfall events in Cork from Saturday evening through to Monday, according to Met Éireann, which has issued an ORANGE rain warning.

In the 48 hour period from Saturday evening to Monday evening, a spell of heavy rain through Saturday night and Sunday followed by a second spell of heavy rain later on Sunday night and Monday will give large rainfall amounts.

That is according to an ORANGE weather alert for Cork, issued by Met Éireann this afternoon.

'There will be flooding and hazardous driving conditions in many areas,' according to the alert. 'Rainfall amounts will be highest along the south coast and in mountainous areas.'

Severity: Orange
Valid from: Sat. 13/04 @ 5PM
Valid to: Mon. 15/04 @ 5PM
Affected Areas: Cork and Waterford.
