'For me, it's about confidence and having that individual flair. After all, what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it,' says Stephanie.

CORK Rose, Stephanie McCarthy will be in Dunmanway on Monday to find the Best-dressed Lady at Ballabuidhe Races Ladies’ Day.

Stephanie, a UCC neuroscience graduate is completing her Masters in Pharmaceutical Technology and gearing up for the Tralee festival later this month.

The 27-year-old is passionate about her studies and hopes to pursue her career in developing therapies for conditions with limited treatments.

She said: ‘I am thrilled to be asked to judge Best-dressed on ladies’ day.  It is such an honour and I know it won’t be an easy task, Rebel ladies are known for their fashion, not to mention the amazing boutiques we have here in Cork. The amazing thing about fashion is that everyone has their own style which is unique to them, so who is anyone to judge that? For me, it’s about confidence and having that individual flair. After all, what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.’

Introduced by the Dunmanway Chamber of Commerce in 2016, Ladies’ Day at Ballabuidhe Races has become a popular event. There are also prizes for gents and youngsters.

All ladies are treated to a Prosecco reception on the day with the winner receiving a trip to Europe Hotel in Killarney, as well as other prizes on offer.

Ballabuidhe Races take place at Dromleena Lawn on Sunday and Monday. The festival features  live music gigs and Comhaltas’ Open Air Ceili.  Fair day takes place on Wednesday.
