Carbery Macra chosen to host organisation's national AGM

Carbery region will host the 2018 Macra na Feirme national AGM, in association with the Carbery Group, on Saturday, May 12th next, at the Westlodge Hotel in Bantry. 

CARBERY region will host the 2018 Macra na Feirme national AGM, in association with the Carbery Group, on Saturday, May 12th next, at the Westlodge Hotel in Bantry. 

A large contingent of county and regional delegates from across the country, members of the Macra na Feirme national staff, national officers and presidential team will be in attendance.

Ahead of this highly prestigious event, Carbery Macra na Feirme held an official launch night in the Westlodge Hotel on Friday, April 13th. Guests included Macra na Feirme national president James Healy, Michael Murphy, quality systems manager at Carbery Group, and Pat Gill, general manager of the Westlodge Hotel. 

Carbery Macra chairperson Patrick Deasy addressed the meeting and thanked Macra na Feirme for affording the Carbery region the opportunity to host such an important event in the Macra calendar.

 He expressed gratitude to Carbery Group for their great support in joining them in partnership to host the 2018 AGM. 

Macra president James Healy thanked the Carbery region for hosting this year’s national AGM and also recognised the input of the Carbery Group for sponsoring this year’s event. Michael Murphy, on behalf of the main sponsor, Carbery Group, said it is a great pleasure to partner with Carbery Macra and that they are delighted to be associated with this year’s event. 

Currently the largest Macra county / region in the country, Carbery Macra has an active membership of approximately 400 young people between the ages of 17 and 35. 

The region now has 13 clubs, spanning West Cork, namely Ballinadee, Ballinascarthy, Bantry, Barryroe, Beara, Caheragh, Clonakilty, Crossmahon-Bandon, Dunmanway, Innishannon, Kilbrittain, Kilmeen and Mizen. 

As part of the event Carbery Macra Na Feirme will organise a ‘Do It Again Debs’-themed banquet on the Saturday evening with a four-course meal and entertainment provided by The Music Makers.
