FOLLOWING the green light for a solar farm in Enniskeane, a planning application for another such development has been lodged for nearby Derrigra West, Ballineen.
Amarenco Solar Ballineen lodged a planning application for a solar farm comprising approximately 22,200 photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames within on 10.18 hectares.
A decision is due at the end of this month. Just before Christmas, the County Council granted planning permission with conditions to Power Capital Renewable Energy Ltd for a solar farm at Teddies Upper, Enniskeane.
Locals voiced their opposition and following a series of public meetings they set up the Enniskeane Solar Farm Action Group.
