BALLINCOLLIG native Deirdre Duffy was part of the Yes Equality team that were honoured with the Community Group of the Year Award at the 41st People of the Year Awards for 2015.
The Awards were organised by Rehab and the Community Group of the Year Award was bestowed to Yes Equality for their inspirational campaign which contributed enormously to a global advance in the recognition of the rights of gay and lesbian couples.

Deirdre Duffy has worked in a leadership capacity with the Irish Council of Civil Liberties’ policy team since 2007. In 2015, she was appointed to the DNA Database System Oversight Committee. She is a former co-chair of Comhlámh and has extensive experience in legal research and policy development across a broad spectrum of human rights and equality issues.
A graduate of the BCL programme at UCC, Deirdre is a barrister and has previously worked as a policy advisor with the Scottish Executive Justice Department.
