Independent Ireland leader and member of the Oireachtas Transport Committee, Michael Collins TD, has welcomed the news that Cork Airport surpassed the three million passenger mark, describing it as ‘a good news story that deserves to be recognised and applauded’.
It was a one in three million moment for Hannah Davison as she became Cork Airport’s three millionth passenger of 2025.
Hannah, who was travelling in the company of her children Joshua and Emily, arrived from London Gatwick on Ryanair flight FR7722 which touched down shortly after noon.

Travelling to Cork to visit her family, Hannah was met on arrival by airport management and presented with a luxury hamper and a bottle of champagne from Cork Airport Duty Free to celebrate the significant milestone.
Deputy Collins said Cork Airport continues to be an invaluable resource for Cork and the wider Munster region, supporting jobs, tourism, and economic growth while providing vital connectivity for local communities and businesses.
‘As a member of the Transport Committee, I am consistently raising issues affecting transport infrastructure across Cork, Munster and the rest of Ireland — from roads and public transport to our regional airports,’ he said.
‘Cork Airport’s continued success shows what can be achieved when investment, good management, and community support come together.’
Cork Airport reached the three millionth passenger milestone nearly two months earlier than last year, recording a 14% increase in traffic year-to-date.
Six new routes have been added this year, with Aer Lingus launching a new service to Geneva in December.
‘This record-breaking growth shows that Cork Airport is thriving. It’s Europe’s Best Regional Airport for a reason, and its success is something everyone in the South should take pride in,’ Deputy Collins said.
He added that Cork Airport’s expansion brings significant benefits beyond aviation.
‘The airport supports over 12,000 jobs and contributes more than €1billion to the Irish economy. Its growth is essential for tourism, exports, and business connectivity across Munster and South Leinster. These achievements underline why continued Government support for regional airports is so important,’ he said.
Deputy Collins congratulated Cork Airport’s management, staff, and all involved in delivering such strong performance.
‘This is a major milestone for Cork Airport, and it reflects the hard work and dedication of its entire team. It’s proof that when regional infrastructure is backed and supported, the results speak for themselves.’
Earlier this year, Cork Airport was named as Europe’s Best Regional Airport by Airports Council International (ACI) Europe, acknowledging the airport’s efforts in the promotion of inbound tourism, the addition of numerous new routes and the commitment to sustainable business.
Independent market research undertaken by RED C shows that passengers using Cork Airport rank their experience highly – complimenting the conveniently located carparks, swift security, friendly and courteous staff, excellent shopping and dining experiences, and modern, 21st century airport facilities.
