Reports suggest that Bandon man in line for bumper pay rise

BY KIERAN McCARTHY

CONOR Hourihane could quadruple his wages if a proposed move to Aston Villa goes through.

The Bandon man is one of the most sought-after players in the Championship in this transfer window, with reports suggesting that both Villa and Sheffield Wednesday have bid £1.25 million for the in-form Barnsley captain.

The Birmingham Mail reported on Friday that Villa manager Steve Bruce is upping his interest in midfielder Hourihane and The Sun claims that the club will quadruple his wages to £28,000 per week.

Hourihane is out of contract in the summer and a number of Championship clubs are believed to be interested in signing the former Bandon AFC and Douglas Hall star.

An interesting few weeks lie ahead for West Cork’s finest football export, a player described as a natural born leader.
