SKIBBEREEN brothers Gary and Paul O’Donovan will race in Lane 4 in their A/B heat of the men’s lightweight double sculls at the Olympic Games this Wednesday afternoon, at 1.10pm Irish time, live on RTÉ2.

The West Cork duo, who won their heat on Monday, will be up against Germany, USA, France, Great Britain and China, and they will need to produce another great performance if they want to advance to the A final on Friday.

The Skibbereen rowers need a top-three finish to make it through to the Olympic A final and be in with a chance of a medal.

In the other A/B semi-final, Austria, Poland, South Africa, Norway, Italy and Denmark will battle it out.

Also, Claire Lambe and Sinead Lynch are up first in the lightweight women’s double sculls A/B semi-final at 1pm Irish time on Wednesday.
