KATE Wall was the star of the show as won the club’s first-ever AIB Munster Senior Club Camogie Championship title.

The Kilbrittain woman hit a match-winning 2-4 to inspire the Barrs to provincial glory, and set up an All-Ireland semi-final against Ulster champions Loughgiel Shamrocks this Saturday in Ashbourne (2pm).

For the Wall clan, it’s two huge games on the same day as Kate’s brother Philip is captain of the Kilbrittain hurling team in the Munster junior final against Kilrossanty in Mallow.

But Kate’s focus will be on the Barrs’ clash with Loughgiel Shamrocks, as the Cork senior looks to back up her player-of-the-match display in the 3-11 to 2-12 win against De La Salle (Waterford).

The Barr’s trailed by six points in the first half but battled back courageously and Wall’s 59th-minute strike ensured their place in the history books following a thriller in Tipperary.

There was a real West Cork connection to the Barrs’ winners, as Orlaith Cahalane – daughter of Ailish and Niall Cahalane from Castlehaven – marauded down the left flank and squared to the wondering Wall, who nearly took the net off as the sliotar nestled in the far right corner and sent the travelling support into raptures.
