A fundraising hike for former Cork footballer Kieran O’Connor will take place on Hungry Hill on the Beara Peninsula this Sunday.

Former Aghada footballer O’Connor is battling Ewing’s Sarcoma Cancer, a rare form of bone cancer, and a number of fundraising events have been held in recent weeks to raise funds to assist him and his family.

The hike up Hungry Hill this Easter Sunday will take around five or six hours. Registration, where you can donate, takes place from 9.30am at the Circle K in Castletownbere. The 16km walk will start from Rossmackowen Church at 11am and it will be led by local man Paul O’Shea who leads a weekly walk of the mountain. Former Cork footballers Graham Canty and Alan O’Connor were pictured at the recent launch. Everyone is welcome to come along on Sunday and support a great cause.
