DIRECTIONS from the DPP are still outstanding in relation to a Clonakilty man accused of five counts of deception, a court heard this week.

Trevor O’Brien (50) of Knocks, Lyre, Clonakilty appeared at Clonakilty District Court on Tuesday

As well as five charges of deception, a court previously heard that there are also a further 45 alleged injured parties related to 53 separate allegations dating from 2008 to 2024.

The court also heard at the time that a search had been carried out at the accused’s home on Thursday November 14th last where gardaí seized over €344,000 in cash.

He was previously refused bail in the district court, but successfully secured High Court bail before Christmas. Sgt Tom Mulcahy told Judge John King that that instructions from the DPP remain outstanding and sought an adjournment.

Judge King remanded the accused on High Court bail to Clonakilty Court on April 15th.
