A SPECIAL anniversary mass for St Vincent de Paul recently took place in Skibbereen.

Msgr Leonard O’Brien gave a homily at the mass and spoke of the confidentiality of those who work voluntarily with the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and the internal controls which receipt each donation. This was important, he said, for public confidence in the long established society.

Bishop of Cork John Buckley spoke of the religious inspiration of the organisation, founded by Frederic Ozanam and dedicated to St Vincent de Paul.  He said that the organisation treated all people with dignity and respect.
