Organisers of the hugely popular Clonakilty Street Carnival have put a call out for volunteers to help on the day.

ORGANISERS of the hugely popular Clonakilty Street Carnival have put a call out for volunteers to help on the day.

This is the third year of the event which attracts thousands to the award-winning West Cork town.

Taking place on Saturday June 16th, organisers say its success comes down to 16 key hours, between 6.30am and 10.30pm.

A Chamber spokesperson said: ‘The committee performed superhuman feats to pull off a spectacular day last year, but it was physically exhausting on everyone.

‘Accordingly, we are calling out to our members to come on board for one day only and volunteer some of your time on the day. Maybe you can spare a day, a half day or even an hour? Every bit of help at whatever time of the day lightens the load for everyone.’

Those interested in helping out should call either Tim Coffey on 087-2305080 or Jim Daly on 087-7465397.
