A MACROOM man has offered to install CTTV cameras at the town’s Tiny Feet Fairy Garden after vandals smashed the tiny figurines over two nights, in two different locations.

Catherine Murphy, secretary of Tiny Feet Fairy Garden, said the damage, which took place on Monday and Tuesday night, and estimated at approximately €300, was ‘absolutely shocking.’

‘The garden is here 18 months and for this to happen now is heartbreaking, especially with so many volunteers working on it. We went down again on Wednesday morning and two more items were smashed,’ said Catherine.

‘We have notified gardaí of the vandalism and a local man Michael McCarthy, who saw what happened on our Facebook page, has offered to put up CCTV cameras. Humphrey Lynch of Lynch Bakeries has offered us a power connection for the cameras and we want to sincerely thank them both.’

Catherine said the damage ‘was intentional and done with force’ but thankfully no children saw it.

The Tiny Feet Garden, in the Riverside Park in Masseytown, was officially opened last year and is funded by donations and fundraising events.
