SIR –May I, through your paper, thank the good people of Bantry.
Last week I carelessly left my video camera on a seat in the square in the centre of the town.
It must have been a good half hour before I realised it was missing, so I retraced my steps back to the square, where a young lady helped me look and made a phone call to the taxi service I had used from the West Lodge Hotel.
Having no luck, I went to the gardai to check and there – by an answer to a prayer to St Anthony – it had been handed in.
The lady from the chemist shop – Cohen’s I think – had taken it in, off a third person and handed it over to the gardai.
So may I say ‘thank you’ to the unknown people of the town for their honesty.
