Ciara Lucy, managing director of Spearline Risk and Compliance in Skibbereen, has been appointed president of Network Ireland West Cork for 2019.

CIARA Lucy, managing director of Spearline Risk and Compliance in Skibbereen, has been appointed president of Network Ireland West Cork for 2019.

Ciara will be joined by 21 other West Cork businesswomen on the Network Ireland West Cork committee, which holds monthly networking events for women members and guests in different locations in West Cork.

The organisation currently has almost 100 members across West Cork. ‘Less than a year ago, a few of us put our heads together and decided that as a group of West Cork businesswomen, we could have serious potential to do something really great for the region,’ Ciara said.

‘The Network Ireland platform was already in existence and in March 2018 we formed the West Cork branch with our launch event in The Ludgate Hub with Dee Forbes of RTÉ as our guest speaker,’ explained Ciara. ‘A few short months later, and we’ve had eight highly successful events and a growing membership base.  I’m planning our programme for next year and right now all I can say is that it’s going be an exciting and empowering year for Network Ireland West Cork.’

Network Ireland was established in 1983 and has over 1,000 members with 15 branches across Ireland.  It is a progressive, dynamic organisation supporting the professional and personal development of women.

‘Membership of Network Ireland West Cork has reaped huge rewards for me personally,’ Ciara told The Southern Star . ‘Our aim was to create a network of support and encouragement for the businesswomen of West Cork and for members to feel like they belong to a supportive community of like-minded people. My expectations have been surpassed.’
