Well known Clonaklity supermarket Scally's SuperValu will host an innovative autism friendly shopping evening next Tuesday.

The store will create a calm environment where lights will be dimmed and music and in-store announcements turned off between 7pm and 9pm in order to regulate and reduce the amount of sensory stimulation taking place.

The idea was suggested by Patricia O'Leary, a local whose daughter, a student works in the store part time.

Owner Eugene Scally who is well know for introducing innovative and customer centric ideas into his popular supermarket which has a reputation for stocking a wide range of locally sourced, artisan foods said 'I think this is a great suggestion and we're delighted to try somthing new. We're always looking for new ways in which we can make sure Scally's SuperValu provides a service for the whole of our local community'
