IT’S going to be a mugs’ game on Cape Clear Island on Saturday, July 16th for the second 5k fun race.

Last year’s inaugural event attracted over 90 entrants and, this year, the organisers hope there will be an even bigger and better turnout.

It is part of a series of fun races on the various West Cork Islands and winners in the different categories can expect to take home a specially commissioned Cape Clear Island mug.

The race will start at the heritage centre, go through Ed Harper’s goat farm and follow the old Bóthar Lár back onto the main island loop, which leads back to the North Harbour.

The event is there to be enjoyed by runners, joggers and walkers alike. It starts at 12.30pm with ferries departing Baltimore at 10.30 am and Schull at 11am. Refreshments will be provided afterwards in Club Cléire.
