CORK County Council has closed a road in Skibbereen near the Showgrounds for two months, to facilitate the town's flood relief works.

CORK County Council has closed a road in Skibbereen near the Showgrounds for two months, to facilitate the town’s flood relief works.

The Lurriga Road, the L-4215-0, will be closed from now until Friday September 14th.

To detour, from the junction of the Lurriga Road (L-4215-0) with the Cork Road (N71), proceed in a westerly direction through the Cork Road roundabout onto the Skibbereen bypass road, until you come to the junction of the N71 with the Drimoleague Road (R593).

Turn right on to the R593 and proceed to the junction with the L-42151-0 (Lurriga) where you turn right on to the L-42151-0.

Proceed along the L-42151-0 until you come to the junction with the L-4215-0 (Lurriga Road).

Turn left on to the L-4215-0. At the junction of the Lurriga Road (L-4215-0) and the L-42151-0, turn right on to the L-42151-0. Proceed to the junction of the L-42151-0 and the Mill Road (R593).

Turn left onto the Mill Road (R593) and proceed to the junction of the R593 and the Skibbereen Bypass Road (N71).

Turn left onto the N71 and proceed through the Cork Road Roundabout, along the N71 until the junction with Lurriga Road (L-4215-0).

The road was earlier closed for the flood works but is now being closed again for the Construction of a raised road as part of River Ilen (Skibbereen) Flood Defence Scheme.

Because this is an ‘Urgent Closure’ notice, the closure does not facilitate the making of objections/observations.
