It’s not every day you see a government minister bring an internet craze to the Dáil.
But that’s exactly what happened when Minister for State and Cork South-West TD Christopher O’Sullivan did the 6-7 for his nieces and nephew on their visit to Leinster House last week.
The Fianna Fáil TD made the popular hand gesture as he walked into the Dáil..

His nieces Romy and Molly alongside nephew Freddie Nicholson from Ardfield couldn’t believe their eyes and had a chuckle as they saw him on TV.
‘They had an absolute blast,’ said Minister O’Sullivan, who heads the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
‘They stuck around for the entire day and towards the end as I was going into the Dail chamber, they dared me to do the 6-7 gesture to the camera. I just can’t disappoint my nieces and nephews so I did it. And we captured their reaction, which was hilarious.’
He added: ‘It was just an amazing day had all-round.’
The move was based on Skrilla’s Doot Doot (6-7) lyric which sparked an online sensation two years ago. And by early 2025, TikTokers soundtracked basketball clips with it. A viral YouTube video of a kid at a basketball game shouting ‘6-7’ and doing the signature gesture made the trend go viral.
The Instagram reel of the TD's nieces and nephew reacting to the video has become a bit of an internet sensation itself, getting more than 350,000 views to date.
'Making an idiot of myself on TV just to entertain my sister's kids. Well worth it though,' reads the video caption.
Apart from getting to do the 6-7, the Minister said one of the highlights of his job was showing people around Leinster House so they can see how parliament works.
‘People of all ages come to visit me from Men’s and Women’s Sheds to meals-on-wheels groups, right down to secondary and primary schools.'
