If the Arabs of Arabia had not invaded and imposed Islam on all, today the Levant would be Jewish and Christian only. Islam has no part in the land of Israel and even in the Koran, there is no mention of Jerusalem, of Al-Aska.

SIR – In reply to Mr Teegan he claims that after mostly European Christianity tried to wipe out all Jews from the face of the earth, that those starving remnants invaded Israel or as it was called by the Romans, Palestine.

One must also remember that it was the idea of Mr Haj Amin Hussein, the Mufti of Jerusalem and one of Hitler’s best friends and uncle of the arch terrorist Yasser Arafat (the Egyptian) to concentrate the Jews in camps where it would be easier to murder them. He also organised Arab armies to side with Hitler in Iraq and Muslim thugs to kill Jews in Yugoslavia. All Iraqi Jews remember the Faroud (pogroms) organised by Haj Amin.

Then he quotes a misguided left wing historian Ilan Pappe. Who are Zionists? Those that believe that Jerusalem, which sits on Mount Zion for the last 2,700 years is the eternal capital of the Hebrew people, which it is.

Arabs have no right to claim any part of Jerusalem. They invaded in 1948, threw out the Jewish civilians and occupied what is known as the West Bank, which is Judea and Samaria, and also murdered thousands of Jews who had lived there for centuries, burned all the synagogues and destroyed all Jewish cemeteries.

Then he claims that Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria cover 50% of the lands there, when in fact it is 3%.

If the Arabs of Arabia had not invaded and imposed Islam on all, today the Levant would be Jewish and Christian only. Islam has no part in the land of Israel and even in the Koran, there is no mention of Jerusalem, of Al-Aska or anything else concerning the Levant. The Koran does mention that in Shura 2 the land over the river Jordan is the land of Bnei Yacub, meaning the children of Jacob (Israel) and so it is today.

Mr. Teegan and Pepe conveniently forget that the whole of what is now called the West Bank except for 3% of it, was offered and even the Eastern part of Jerusalem was offered to the Arabs at Camp David and like in 1948, 1967 and 1973, they rejected this offer.

There is one point that I agree with Mr Teegan and that is that a one-state solution would be fine, but since those who left in 1948 because the Arabs declared war, and none have yet been given citizenship in any Arab country and now Lebanon too has withdrawn even labour rights for them, I suggest that County Cork take in 10,000 refugees, Israel 10,000 and the rest should return to Huron (Southern Syria) where they came from in 1923 under the British Mandate as well as the Magreb region, Iraq and Kuwait, where I am sure they will be welcomed back.

Yours sincerely,

Maerton Davis
