Kinetica Sports Nutrition, of the Carbery Group in West Cork, has announced its sponsorship of the Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race.

KINETICA Sports Nutrition, of the Carbery Group in West Cork, has announced its sponsorship of the Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race.

The event, which last year attracted over 600 entrants and raised €31k for charity, takes place on October 21st and is based out of Liss Ard estate.

The race route takes competitors along tens of kilometres of beautiful yet challenging terrain near Union Hall, Castletownshend, Tragumna, Lough Hyne and out towards Baltimore.

The Skibbereen Charity Adventure race is a multisport adventure race made up of road biking, trail running and sea kayaking.

Adventure racing has grown in popularity in recent years and the Skibbereen event is one of only 10 races on the National Adventure Race series for Ireland.

It is organised by members of the Skibbereen & District Lions Club and is unique in that all proceeds from the event go directly to charity.

Speaking at the launch, Vivienne O’Mahony, Kinetica brand co-ordinator said the Carbery firm was delighted to support the event.

‘Kinetica Sports Nutrition is trusted by world class athletes to fuel their performance at an elite level, and we are delighted to bring this expertise back home to West Cork,’ she said.

President of Skibbereen Lions Club, Liam O’Donovan said: ‘We’re delighted that Kinetica have come on board as main sponsor and I would like to thank Carbery Group for their support.

‘The Kinetica range of sports nutrition products are a great fit with the SCAR race. I’d also like to thank Liss Ard Estate for kindly allowing us to use their beautiful grounds again.’

Mr O’Donovan added: ‘The number of participants has grown over the last few years and places are going fast this year, so I’d urge anyone who wants to enter to sign up quickly by visiting www.scar.ie.’

Entries close for the race on Sunday October 8th.
