A man who threatened a group of women on their way home from a night out, during a drunken rampage in Skibbereen was placed on bail.
Kristian Breen (37), of Grosvenor Square, Rathmines, Dublin, pleaded guilty to three public order offences at Skibbereen District Court. Mr Breen, who works for a fitness company, was on a weekend trip with his partner when he committed the offences on September 13th.
Gardaí received a call from a woman who said Mr Breen had threatened to assault her and her friends, and had followed them around town. Three men had pinned Mr Breen to the ground when gardaí arrived in Field’s car park shortly after.
Sgt Tom Mulcahy said the defendant was shouting aggressively and was taken to Clonakilty Garda Station. He refused to take off his belt so gardaí used force to take it off him. ‘He said he was a boxer and would take on any garda and fight them,’ said Sgt Mulcahy.
Judge Carroll said this was a serious incident that left people walking home fearing for their safety. She adjourned the case to September 2026.
