Health service overhaul call

SIR – The real problems with the hospitals in this country is the cuts by the IMF, reducing members of medical staff and causing huge delays. Furthermore, the IMF have taken over from the government as they have in other countries.

Consultants are part of our problem; some of their fees are extortionate. In France, they are regulated by the government and patients are seen quickly and not ripped off.

We can blame the politicians for allowing this to happen. They can’t be trusted to carry out election promises.

Your undiagnosed cancer will kill you if you are on a waiting list for too long. This Irish medical system is in need of a total overhaul.
