WEST Cork swimming sensation, Stephen Redmond, will be inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame at a special ceremony that will take place in London in April 2017.

Billy Wallace, president of the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association, said: ‘If ever a man deserved to be inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, it is Stephen Redmond.

‘The amount of time, of planning, training and travelling that Stephen put into successfully completing the 7 Oceans Challenge was incredible,’ said Mr Wallace.

‘His determination, Herculean strength and energy carried him through to become the first person in the world to complete all seven of the world’s toughest open water challenges.  He has done himself, his family and friends proud, Cork proud, and Ireland proud.’
