A DRUNK driver whose car overturned and landed on its roof near Leap has been disqualified from driving for two years and fined €250.
Skibbereen District Court heard that Igor Nestoryk, of Abbey Street, Timoleague, caused the accident on June 3rd last while driving his blue Hyundai at Keamore, Leap, coming from Skibbereen,
Gardaí received a call at 8.50pm about a one-vehicle road accident on the west-bound side of the N71.

Sgt Tom Mulcahy said the gardaí attending the scene noticed that the accused was intoxicated and took him to Bandon Garda station.
The accused was breathalysed, and while there where he gave a reading of 54mls of alcohol for 100mls of breath.
The court heard that Mr Nestoryk, who had a Ukrainian interpreter in court, worked in a factory in Timoleague and had no previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Flor Murphy said: ‘He tells me that on that particular day there was bombing in a part of Ukraine where his father was. He went drinking. He has put his hands up and said he is very sorry.’
Judge Joanne Carroll said: ‘It’s a very significant thing to overturn your car on the road. No one else was injured.’
Judge Carroll disqualified the accused from driving for two years on the driving while drunk charge. She also convicted and fined him €250 for careless driving, giving him four months to pay the fine.
