KITTY Hennessy, the accommodation manager at Fernhill House Hotel and Gardens in Clonakilty, was honoured with an award at the recent Keelings Gold Medal Awards in Dublin,

The awards, which hosted 460 professionals from the hospitality industry, saw Kitty named Ireland’s Front of House Team Member of the Year.

Kitty has been working at Fernhill for 38 years and is currently the accommodation manager.

Kitty won the national prize after the entry form detailing her work was shortlisted from the many entries. An undercover judge travelled to inspect Fernhill and reported that Kitty’s high quality work was evidenced by the exceptional presentation and cleanliness at Fernhill.

Kitty, who lives in Clonakilty, was unfortunately unable to attend the awards ceremony but her award was collected by her colleagues on her behalf. Fernhill operations manager Neil O’Neill said all the staff were absolutely thrilled for Kitty.

‘She has been a part of Fernhill for many years and has always been exemplary. The huge amount of congratulatory messages from people who have trained and worked with her over the years was a great testament to her. We are proud to have Kitty as a part of Fernhill,’ he said.

Kitty, who is married to Joe, has three children – Geraldine, Sean and Martina.
