Irish Water has confirmed that a precautionary notice with advice not to swim at the Dock Beach area in Kinsale has now been lifted. 

IRISH Water has confirmed that a precautionary notice with advice not to swim at the Dock Beach area in Kinsale has now been lifted. 

An overflow incident occurred at a pump station in Denis Quay, Kinsale last Thursday. The incident was resolved on the day and the pumping station has been operating as normal since.

Following the incident, Cork County Council placed a precautionary notice with advice not to swim at the beach. Sampling and testing of water in the area has been completed and Cork County Council, in consultation with the HSE, has confirmed the notice can now be lifted. 

'Irish Water wishes to apologise to those impacted by this incident,' a statement added.
