CORK County Council are again advising motorists and residents to exercise caution as a period of unusually high tides is being experienced at present.

Coastal water levels will rise significantly again this evening and tomorrow morning due to a combination of meteorological and tidal factors with flooding of the road network.

These Supermoon Spring tides may result in flooding of the road network at low lying coastal areas across the county in particular for areas such as Clonakilty, Rosscarbery, Kinsale, Whitegate and the Bailick road in Midleton.

Motorists are strongly urged to avoid affected low-lying coastal areas and to seek alternative routes where possible.

Motorists are further advised not to drive through floods or standing water.

We appreciate the public’s cooperation in ensuring safety during this period of elevated coastal conditions.

Cork County Council will continue to monitor the situation.

The Council’s Emergency Line remains open on 021 4800048 to report issues.
