The body of a man was recovered from the Old Head of Kinsale early this morning.
THE body of a man in his 60s has been recovered off the Old Head of Kinsale in the early hours of this morning after a car went off a cliff last night.
Valentia Coast Guard mobilised a rescue operation after receiving a call from gardaà in Anglesea Street at around 7.30pm last night. Both the  Courtmacsherry and Kinsale RNLI  lifeboats along with the Old Head of Kinsale Coast Guard attended the scene and Rescue 117 helicopter from Waterford also arrived on the scene.
An initial search was carried out but the car was submerged in deep water. The search was resumed by the rescue teams at around 3.20am this morning during low water and the body of a man in his 60s was recovered. The family of the man were also in attendance when the crews returned to station.
