THE Mills Inn in Ballyvourney is holding a Biker Poker Run in aid of BUMBLEance, The Children’s National Ambulance Service, on Saturday October 21st at 10am. Registration is €20 per person and will take place at the Mills Inn from 9am-10am on the morning of the event.

Bikers, friends, supporters and fundraisers are all welcome on the day and the Poker Run will have five stops en route.

Each biker will be given one card per stop and the best poker hand at the end of the run will win a voucher for bike accessories for €300.

All funds raised from the Mills Inn Poker Run will go directly towards the South West Regional BUMBLEette Service which will help to transport and support sick children throughout Cork county and beyond.

Mills Inn owner Don O’Leary said: ‘The Mills Inn are proud supporters of BUMBLEance. We have organised the 2017 Poker Run to raise much-needed funds for sick BUMBLEance kids. This service provides support to critically and seriously ill children throughout Ireland and we want to support these sick children and families in distress and to help them in any way that we can.

‘We are urging all bikers and friends to come along and, of course, to have lots of fun along the way.’

The Southern Regional BUMBLEette will provide support to sick children and their families throughout Cork city and county as they travel to and from home to hospital, national treatment centres, and respite and hospice care facilities nationwide.

The service will also provide a very unique and specialised service through end-of-life Angel Trips, which is the final journey that a terminally ill child takes on earth before he or she grows their ‘angel wings’.

Nicola O’ Sullivan, head of fundraising at BUMBLEance, said: ‘We are very grateful to The Mills Inn for their ongoing, invaluable support of BUMBLEance.

‘We rely on our valued corporate partners, fundraisers and friends to keep our BUMBLEance wheels in motion and we know that with their help and support, we can assist even more sick children throughout Cork city and county and nationwide.’

The Southern Regional BUMBLEette will be fully kitted out with BUMBLEance features such as a TV, Playstation, DVDs, music, fun BUMBLEance branding interior and exterior, and sensory lighting, and will have a defibrillator and suction machine on board.

‘It will also be utilised as a chemo cab service and will facilitate wheelchair and stretcher usage, while enabling family members to travel with their loved ones in a safe, comfortable and secure environment.’
