AN architecture student from Kinsale has been honoured for her housing plan for the elderly.Â
Cork County Council, in co-operation with the Cork Age Friendly Alliance, ran a Student Design Competition where second year students from the Cork Centre for Architectural Education (UCC) carried out a design project as part of their work programme.
The students were asked to design an age-friendly housing scheme specifically with the needs of older adults in mind. Â
Architects from Cork County Council's Housing Directorate were invited to participate in critiquing assessments and selected Kinsale's Meegan Buckley for a prize. She  won a travel bursary of â¬500 as the second winner. It is planned that the competition will be repeated again next year.
