CORK Airport is to host a new, unique 5k where runners of all levels will have the opportunity to jog the runway at Munster’s favourite airport.

On Saturday, November 21st at 23:59, Cork Airport will be closed for 1,500 participants to complete a 5k course along the runway with celebrity Bressie.

The event is a collaboration with ‘A Lust For Life’ well-being charity, which is a successor to Niall Breslin’s My1000Hours website.

The aim of the charity is to help people become more resilient, improve their mental fitness and showcase practical tools to face life’s challenges.

Speaking ahead of the event Cork Airport managing director, Niall MacCarthy said: ‘We are very proud to be involved in a fantastic initiative that brings runners together from all backgrounds in aid of fundraising for a great cause. The growth of running in Cork has been a fantastic success story in recent years – it’s a great exercise for both mind and body which is something I know Bressie feels especially passionately about.’

‘A Lust For Life’ brings a positive and healthy focus to the conversation of wellbeing and we are delighted to be associated with this project and look forward to welcoming all runners on the night,’ he added.

It will be the first time that an event of this type will be held at Cork Airport.

Runners have the opportunity to make a contribution towards the Cork City Hospitals Children’s Club ,who will also be receiving 15 places on the run, to either sell or auction off for the charitable cause.

Entry to the event costs €20 with all entrants receiving their own goodie bag and A Lust For Life technical t-shirt. Participants can sign up atwww.FITMagazine.ie/events
