BANDON is set to be dazzled by sequins and glitz for the first time as ‘Strictly with Nyhan Motors’ descends on the GAA Pavilion for two nights on November 24th and 25th.

This is the biggest fundraiser to date by the Friends of Bandon Community Hospital (FOBCH) who have been fundraising tirelessly to raise €240,000 to build a state-of-the-art Day Room for the benefit of residents and their families.

The launch took place last Wednesday in The Copper Grove and was compered by Deirdre Lane and Tony O’Leary, with guest speaker John Caulfield, manager of Cork City FC, offering some words of encouragement to the novice dancers.

‘The two shows promise to be full of glitz, glamour and entertainment, where 30 local volunteers will engage in a battle of sequins, shimmies and sparkles to see who will be crowned Strictly champions 2017,’ said Pat Brennan of FOBCH.

‘Nyhan Motors are our title sponsors for the event and they have generously donated a fabulous Kia Piccanto, worth €15,000 and tickets are now on sale at €10. The the raffle will take place on the final night of Strictly,’ Pat added.

Each of the dancers have been sponsored by local businesses and all of them were thanked at the launch.

Gerard Seaman of Nyhan Motors said that they are delighted to be sponsoring a car for this event, while Donal Kelleher spoke on behalf of the dancers and explained why he and his fellow dancers got involved and why Bandon Community Hospital is so important to people, both in Bandon and the surrounding areas.

Organisers have confirmed that former popstar and current Fine Gael Cllr Sinéad Sheppard is their first judge announced for the event. The former member of ‘Six’ runs her own successful dance school in Cobh.
