AN innovative product for the holistic therapies market that was created and designed in West Cork was launched in Dublin at the weekend.

Pina Lazara and Cloud Gallagher of Skibbereen designed the product – a uniquel ergonomically designed arm support that can be used during treatments.

They launched the product at the Mind Body Spirit event at the RDS at the weekend and were delighted with the enthusiasm and response to their creation.

The armrest has been patented and a production deal secured with a firm in Limerick, so there is no impediment to the widespread distribution of the product, which is called ‘APinna’, a Latin term for extension.

It does exactly what it says on the tin because the broad, unattached armrests are placed under the small of the back, which allows a person to fully and naturally extend their arms using counterbalance.

The product is ideal for holistic therapists, but because it is made of medical-grade material it is also ideal for use in hospital settings.

Its unique shape is designed for easy application and comfort. Utilizing innovative principles APinna stands out easily in the massage table accessories market.

The product, priced at €85, can also be purchased by clients because it comes with a handy carry bag, similar to those used for yoga mats.

Anyone interested in acquiring a set of armrests can contact Pina or Cloud at www.apinnaltd.blogspot.ie or you can follow them on Twitter: PinaLazara/APinna or their Facebook page: ViaPina.
