However, in recent years, the rise of content creators has revolutionised the way weddings are captured and shared to family and friends.

A wedding content creator is a professional who specialises in capturing, editing, and producing digital content throughout the day and tailored for sharing social media platforms such as Instagram or TikTok.

Content creators focus on producing a diverse range of media from short videos, reels, behind-the-scenes stories, and candid snapshots, that can be quickly shared online.

Many traditional photographers and videographers are also diversifying to provide content creation as an additional service.

One of the main advantages of hiring a content creator is their ability to tell your story in a highly personalised manner.

They work closely with couples to understand their vision personalities, and preferences, ensuring that the digital content reflects the true spirit of the couple and their wedding day.

Pamela Kiely is the owner of the Cork based Toast Wedding Content Creation, she has a background in digital marketing and also runs PK Marketing, a digital marketing agency specialising in social media management, but discovered there was a gap in the market for creating wedding content.

“My best friend was getting married and had arranged for a friend who was involved in social media to document her wedding. It got me thinking that  not everyone has a friend who is savvy with social media, and there was potential in this.”

After undertaking some research Pamela discovered there was only one woman providing such a service on the island and was based in Northern Ireland.

“I realised there was a market for this, so I launched Toast and ever since we’ve been incredibly busy, working throughout Ireland and we also cover some overseas weddings.”

Pamela states that the service she provides complements the photographer and videographers,

“A content creator is an additional service to your photographer and videographer, we come along and we take all those behind the scenes photos and video clips of the day, it’s all very naturally done on a smart phone so it’s very unobtrusive.”

Pamela and her team will then edit the clips together producing smaller clips that the couple can load on to their Instagram reels, or just keep for themselves.

It’s also a very quick turn-around says Pamela. “I aim to have something back to a couple so that they can post online the next day, and then I’ll get all the footage to them within a week or two.”

Along with capturing all the big moments, the bride’s arrival, the wedding ceremony and the first dance, a content creator also captures all those in-between moments.

Pamela spoke of one couple she worked with who had more reason to cherish the more informal content.

“I had a bride who contacted me two years after her wedding to say thank you as we had captured all these clips of her grandmother chatting to people.  Her grandmother had since passed away but she had all these random moments as a keepsake which were so meaningful for her.”

More couples are using content creators now, which Pamela feels is helped by the common usage of mobile phones.

“People are more relaxed around a phone and don’t really take any notice and what we capture is more natural.”

Sean and Alana Healy from Bantry were married in July 2025, Sean said the couple came across content creation when they attended a wedding fair.

“There were dedicated content creators at the fair and also a lot of photographers and videographers are including that in their package so we decided to go with that option.”

Sean and Alana chose LM Wedding Videography and their photographer was Enda Murphy.

Sean explained that as well as a camera the photographer had a smart phone taking additional still and film footage throughout the day.

“Enda sent us a minute long Instagram video that night, it was great, we were really happy with it.”

An additional service the couple went with said Sean was encouraging their guests to take candid shots and upload these to a dedicated wedding photography app.

“My wife Alana found this app which generated a QR code, we put this code on each table at the reception and everyone who scanned that code was able to upload six photos to the app which worked really well.”

Incorporating a content creator into your wedding plans is an additional way to ensure that your special day is documented from every angle, and allows you to relive your wedding in ways that traditional media can’t offer, it can document the fun antics of guests, giving a more fun way of remembering your special day, and a way of quickly sharing your day with absent family and friends.
