IS it too obvious to use a Wiseman pun visiting Rosscarbery given we’re in Christmas week? Maybe so, but it works!

Castletownbere native Donagh Wiseman has joined Carbery Rangers’ senior football management team, as the Ross club plans for 2026.

Wiseman has been named as a coach in manager Robbie Ahern’s new set-up, as the latter takes over the reins from Seamus Hayes, who stepped aside after three seasons in charge.

Ahern has previously been involved as a selector with Seamus Hayes, and Ronan McCarthy when the club won the Cork SFC in 2016.

As well as the addition of Wiseman, Ahern’s management team includes John Murphy (Snr), Gearoid O’Brien and Mark Ronan as selectors, while Kevin Santry is goalkeeping coach, and Brendan Walsh will look after strength and conditioning. Denis McSweeney is in charge of logistics.

For Ross, they will hope the fresh start can give them the impetus they need to bounce back from relegation from the premier senior grade this season. They have been drawn in the same Senior A group as O’Donovan Rossa, Cill na Martra and Newmarket.
