CLONAKILTY, Kinsale and O’Donovan Rossa will attempt to qualify for the 2025 Cork Credit Unions LGFA senior B county final this weekend.
Senior B title holders Clonakilty face a daunting trip to Glanmire to take on the hosts in the last four of this year’s competition. The Brewery Town will look to Sinéad O’Donovan, Siofra Pattwell, Moira Barrett, Katie O’Driscoll and Millie Condon for inspiration and a second county final appearance in as many years.
Clonakilty beat Kinsale to claim last year’s senior B trophy. The latter are in Skibbereen to take on O’Donovan Rossa in the competition’s other semi-final on Sunday. Éabha O’Donovan, Fionnuala O’Driscoll and Kate O’Donovan will lead Rossa’s attack against an equally talented Kinsale forward line including Caoimhe Horgan, Áine Kearney, Ger Tyner and Kate Redmond.

Bishopstown ended Tadhg MacCarthaigh’s hopes of reaching this year’s junior B county final following last weekend’s semi-final defeat.
There was little to choose between the teams at the end of the opening half. Amid a strong wind, the sides changed ends level, 0-3 apiece, before Ellen Hurley edged the Caheragh club in front at the start of the second period.
The first of two Bishopstown goals handed the hosts an unexpected lead after 34 minutes. Creditably, Tadhg MacCarthaigh embarked on their most profitable spell with Rachel Leonard and Maureen Keating points preceding an Olivia Collins goal.
1-6 to 1-4 behind, Bishopstown reeled off five unanswered points. A last-minute goal put an unfair gloss on the final score, 2-9 to 1-6, despite a battling Tadhg MacCarthaigh display.
Maureen Keating (0-3), Olivia Collins (1-0), Eve O’Donovan, Rachel Leonard and Ellen Hurley (0-1 each) were on target for the West Cork club. Bishopstown will face Carrigaline in this year’s county final after the latter overcame Ballinora in the other semi-final.

Naomh Abán concluded the round-robin section of their Cork LGFA intermediate county championship with a walkover victory from Valley Rovers.
The Ballyvourney club was already assured their place in the county decider against Midleton. Valley Rovers’ final IFC outing will be away to Rosscarbery this weekend.
Ross put in a terrific performance to see off Inch Rovers 0-15 to 1-8 last Sunday. Ciara Dennehy and Mary Hurley impressed for a Rosscarbery team in which Ciara Whooley (0-5), Sandra O’Donoghue (0-4), Katie Murphy (0-3), Sarah Hayes (0-2) and Fiona O’Callaghan scored.
Bandon maintained their unblemished Cork LGFA junior C championship record with a fifth victory in as many outings. The Lilywhites defeated Mallow 2-12 to 2-6 and will face Lisgoold in this year’s JCFC county decider. Interestingly, the two finalists are scheduled to meet in Lisgoold in their final round-robin fixture on Sunday. Hannah Buckley, Anne Marie Troy, Evelyn McCarthy, Kate O’Connor, Clodagh Barry and Laura Cummins were among Bandon’s scorers in the six-point victory over Mallow.
Elsewhere in the junior C grade, Beara received a walkover from Courcey Rovers ahead of the rural division’s final championship outing away to St Peter’s this weekend.

Ilen Rovers remain on course for a junior D county final appearance thanks to victory at home to Naomh Fionnbarra. Leading by nine points at the break, Rovers had to withstand a dogged Naomh Fionnbarra fight back before emerging 2-13 to 0-9 winners.
Maebh Collins top scored with 2-2 for an Ilen side that also had Emma Hurley (0-5), Carla O’Regan (0-3), Mia Crowley (0-2) and Keelin Murphy (0-1) on their scoresheet. Victory over Youghal in their final JDFC round-robin clash will be essential for Ilen to stay in the hunt for a county final berth with Ballincollig, St Finbarr’s and Ballinhassig still in the mix.
There was disappointment for St Colum’s who lost their junior F county semi-final by a single point, 2-8 to 2-7, at home to St Catherines last weekend. The latter will face St Colman’s in the decider.
