A TIPPERARY dad-of-two who is pleading guilty to the burglary of a Bandon home over years ago and the possession of a ‘burglary kit’ including a crowbar, disinfectant and cloned registration plates, has been sent forward for trial to Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

Jimmy Connors (24) of 11B Bank Place, Tipperary town appeared at Bandon District Court last week having been arrested the previous Friday following extradition from the UK.

Sgt Tom Mulcahy told Judge Joanne Carroll that the accused appeared before Judge David Waters at Killarney District Court on Saturday November 29th and he returned him to appear at Bandon District Court.

He is charged that on January 21st 2022 he committed a burglary at 3A Watergate Terrace, Watergate Street, Bandon.

On the same date he is alleged to have had in his possession a burglary kit which included a high powered 3.2 litre Audi A3 car, cloned registration plates, crowbar, face covering and gloves for use in the course of a burglary

Sgt Mulcahy said the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that the accused be prosecuted on indictment of one count of burglary and one count of the possession of articles that could be used in the course of a burglary.

The court also heard that he faces a dangerous driving charge and a charge of driving without insurance on January 21st 2022, both of which were adjourned until after February 10th 2026.

Barrister Carmel Goggins said the accused had entered a signed plea in court and would be going forward for sentencing to Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Carroll granted him free legal aid to include one junior counsel and one senior counsel and returned him for sentencing to the next sittings of Cork Circuit Criminal Court on February 10th next.
