A NEW educational campus for Bandon has been given the green light after Cork County Council granted planning permission.
The Catholic Education And Irish Schools Trust (Ceist) scheme will see Coláiste na Toirbhirte at Cloughmacsimon extended and a new building for the relocated Gaelscoil Dhroichead na Banndan on the same site.
Ceist said that both schools are now operating ‘at or near capacity’ and are reliant on a number of temporary accommodation units.

Coláiste na Toirbhirte became co-educational in 2022 in response to local demographic changes and has a current enrolment of 430 pupils, with a projected long-term increase to 600 pupils. Gaelscoil Dhroichead na Banndan is currently renting accommodation in a repurposed swimming pool facility also in Cloughmacsimon.
