Sgt Trish O’Sullivan told the court that at 4am on August 10th 2024 gardaí received a report of a single vehicle collision where a car was found embedded in a wall on the R584 at Toonsbridge outside Macroom.

‘The accused was found sitting in the driver’s seat and his eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred. He suffered no injuries as a result of the collision with the wall,’ said Sgt O’Sullivan.

He was arrested and taken to Macroom Garda Station where he gave a breath reading of 58mls of alcohol per 100mls of breath.

The court heard that Mr Kingsbury has 28 previous convictions including for drink driving with some of them dating back to 2010.

His solicitor Eimear Griffin said her client apologises to the court and said a driving disqualification will have a serious impact on him as he lives in a rural area between Schull and Goleen and it was cause hardship.

She sought a postponement of the driving ban so he can move and find new accommodation.

Judge Joanne Carroll disqualified him from driving for two years and convicted and fined him €250 giving him four months to pay the fine.

She also postponed his disqualification until May 1st.
