A RYLANE man’s behaviour to gardaí after they attended a single vehicle collision outside Macroom has been described as ‘off the charts’ after he told them to ‘f** off’.
Jamie Lee (22) of Oughtherry, Rylane, Cork at Macroom District Court who pleaded guilty to being drunk in public, obstructing a peace officer and using or engaging in threatening, abusive words or behaviour.
Sgt Trish O’Sullivan told the court that at 12:45am on August 31st last gardaí were called to single vehicle accident near Carriganima.

‘They met with a male and female on the road and the accused was very drunk and was more concerned about who reported the accident to gardaí,’ said Sgt O’Sullivan.
‘He told them they weren’t needed and that they could leave. However, the female with him needed attention due to her intoxication and Mr Lee got very irritated and started shouting abuse at them and became very aggressive.’
Sgt O’Sullivan said he told the gardaí to ‘f** off’ and he had to be physically restrained with pepper spray having to be used on him before he was taken to Macroom Garda Station.
The court heard that he has previous convictions which are all road traffic related and that this was his first time in court for public order offences.
Defence solicitor Jack Purcell said his client’s behaviour was ‘off the charts’ and that he doesn’t drink anymore and is currently job seeking. He said Mr Lee has an upcoming interview for a job and lost his previous job as he wasn’t showing up for work.
Judge Joanne Carroll sought a probation report on Mr Lee and adjourned the case to April 15th.
