AS always, there’s strong local representation throughout the various classes where the bragging rights are a part and parcel of the well-spirited local post-event discussions.

In Class 14, Clonakilty's Kevin Kelleher (Ford Escort) with Macroom's William Lynch head the local challenge.

Family ties are strong in Class 13 with Rosscarbery brothers Jason and Jonathan O'Mahony (Ford Escort), Ardfield's Eoghan Calnan and his Carrigaline-based brother Conor, Newcestown's Ray O'Sullivan, Carrigroe's Diarmuid Keohane, Bantry's Jeremiah and Neil Flynn and Lissarda's Philip Cross, all in Ford Escorts. Rosscarbery's Eamonn Hayes co-drives for Kanturk returnee Barry Meade (Ford Escort).

The hotly-contested and Honda Civic populated Class 11F sees The Pike's Eamonn McCarthy, Clondrohid's Barry O'Brien, Ballinhassig's Barry McIntyre, Jonathan O'Brien (Farmer's Cross) and West Cork Rally newcomers, Timoleague's Kevin O'Sullivan and Carrigfadda's Brian Ronan. Jonathan O'Brien's co-driver is Joseph O'Sullivan (Rathbarry), whose father Niall co-drives for Cappawhite's Sean O'Carroll (Ford Escort) in Class 14.

In the rear-wheel drive Class 11R the top locals are Lyre hotshot Tim O'Donovan (Toyota Corolla), Schull's Fergus Hurley, Ballinglanna's Mark O'Donovan and Rosscarbery's Brian O'Mahony, all in Ford Escorts. Clonakilty's Aidan Hennessy (Ford Fiesta) moves up from the RC4 category to RC3 with Packie McCarthy continuing the co-driving duty.

Drimoleague's John Forde (Citroen C2R2) is amongst the Class 10 entry along with Clonakilty's David Jennings and Skibbereen's Frank Hurley both in Ford Escorts and Ballinascarthy's James Symington (Hillman Avenger).

Locals in Class 9 feature Bandon's Donie O'Brien (Vauxhall Nova), Clonakilty's Jonathan O'Carroll (MG ZR) and Schull's Dean McSweeney (Opel Corsa).

The Bandon father and daughter duo of Gerard and Milly-Jean Seaman (Ford Fiesta) are amongst the Class 22 entries. Another family member, Daniel Seaman, co-drives for Glanworth's David Herbert (Peugeot 208) in the RC4 category. Dunmanway's Seamus O'Donovan (Honda Civic) is also in Class 22.

There are also family ties in the Historic section with the Clondrohid McCarthy brothers Iarla and Eoghan, the respective co-drivers for Welsh driver Duncan Williams and Telford's Alan Watkins, both in Ford Escorts.

The Clonakilty father and daughter pairing of Maurice and Aoife Whelton compete in an Austin Mini.
