DRINAGH Rangers and Riverside Athletic celebrated U12 schoolgirls trophy triumphs last weekend.
Rangers qualified for last Saturday’s U12 Schoolgirls Premier Trophy decider by knocking out Clonakilty AFC in the semi-finals. Their opponents, Lyre Rovers, proved too strong for Beara United in the other last-four encounter.
The Baltimore Road ground in Skibbereen was the venue for a Premier Trophy final in which Eabha O’Leary handed Lyre an early 1-0 lead. Drinagh would not be denied however, as Ayesha Daly equalised before two Matilda Kaiser efforts put the seal on a 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Moya Hennessy’s solitary strike was enough to earn Riverside Athletic the 2025 U12 Schoolgirls Championship Trophy in Skibbereen last Saturday. An evenly-fought final between Riverside and Bay Rovers finished scoreless before heading to extra time. Hennessy’s winner edged the result 1-0 for a delighted Athletic.

Three first-leg ties in the U14 schoolgirls’ age-grade produced plenty of excitement. Sullane travelled to Ballyvackey and recorded a 6-3 U14 Schoolgirls Premier Trophy first-leg victory over Clonakilty AFC. Sadbh Cronin (2), Abbie Scanlon (2), Aisling Kelleher and Lily Scannell (penalty) were on Sullane’s scoresheet.
Lyre Rovers and Drinagh Rangers drew 2-2 in the opening leg of the U14 Schoolgirls Championship Trophy at Lyre. Sarah Buttimer and Laoise Young scored for Rangers with Rovers’ Leah Buttimer and Heidi Doyle efforts setting up what should be a cracking second leg.
A 3-1 victory has handed Dunmanway Town the upper hand on Castlelack following the first leg of the U14 Schoolgirls Plaque at the Meadows. Elka Heaney netted for the Brinny club but Keira Kelly (2) and Faye Barry strikes have Dunmanway in the driving seat.

U12 Schoolboys Championship League winners Kilmichael Rovers were held to a 3-3 draw at runners-up Clonakilty AFC City. Luca O’Donovan, Ciarán Wilcox and Aaron Nash found the net for the Ballyvackey side. Liam Murphy (2) and Jack Crowley netted for Kilmichael.
The final game in this season’s U12 Schoolboys League One saw Ardfield edge out Beara United 3-2 at the Showgrounds. Daragh Murphy and William Reid were on target for Beara but a Colin Ronan hat-trick secured all three points for the home team.
Skibbereen and Ardfield finished off the U14 Schoolboys Championship League season in style by producing an eight-goal thriller at the Baltimore Road. Sullane finished top of this season’s U14 Schoolboys Championship table but two sides at the opposite end, Skibb and Ardfield, completed one of the best games of the year, tied 4-4. Michael O’Shea (2), Ronan Dunne and Iarla Crowley were among the goals for the visitors in a fixture Fiachra Garrett and Chris Heaton-Jones were on Skibbereen’s scoresheet.
U14 Schoolboys Premier League champions Lyre Rovers completed their fixture-list with a 1-0 victory at home to third placed Castlelack.

The first leg of the U16 Schoolboys Glass final saw Bunratty United register a 3-1 victory away to Sullane in Ballyvourney. Luke Buckley found the net for the hosts but a Charlie O’Connor and additional Max O’Reilly effort put Bunratty in the driving seat ahead of the second leg at Town Park, Schull.
Castlelack received a walkover from Clonakilty AFC and an automatic 3-0 win in the U16 Schoolboys Plaque final.
