Both Cnoc Buí in Union Hall and the Wild Atlantic Pool and Fitness Centre in Baltimore were among recent recipients of funding from the SE Systems Community Fund.

Cnoc Buí will be using their grant of €15,000 for the installation of 16 solar panels on the two south-facing roofs of the main building, as those in charge of the building estimate that savings of about  €2,000 could be made annually.

‘They will also allow the exhibition ‘season’ to be extended and will make Cnoc Buí more readily available to community groups, particularly over the colder months’. Currently, 15 different community groups use Cnoc Buí.

Meanwhile, and the Wild Atlantic Pool and Fitness Centre in Baltimore were also awarded funding, which comes just as the organisation announced that work has ‘well and truly commenced’ on their brand new jacuzzi spa bath. Earlier in October, there was rush on to get the jacuzzi installed by October 31st, at the risk of losing some valuable grant funding.

The SE Systems Community Fund were behind €500,000 that was granted to community projects nationally, to support a wide range of sustainable energy upgrades, from solar PV systems and LED lighting to insulation and heating improvements.
