THE 2025 Gender Pay Gap Report shows that men and women in Cork County Council are paid almost equally on average, writes Jackie Keogh.
The report, which is published in response to statutory requirements, shows that women earned more than men at the midpoint of the pay scale.
The median gender pay gap showed that women are paid 10.44% more than males, which is an indication of women’s roles in the middle and upper-middle salary scales.

The report provided an overview of the average pay differences between men and women across the organisation, regardless of role or grade.
And it also showed that the mean gender pay gap put men at 0.28% more than women on average.
A spokesperson for Cork County Council said the report illustrates that the local authority is ‘an employer of choice with equal employment and advancement opportunities for all staff across the board.’
Furthermore, the report indicated that there were proportionately more males at lower-middle grades, and a higher proportion of females in upper-middle grades.
