CARBERY’S Cork inter-county representatives are gearing up for a busy period of Electric Ireland All-Ireland Camogie U16 and minor championship action.
The Rebels continue their All-Ireland minor series campaign with a trip to Galway on Sunday, March 1st.
Last weekend, the minors got back to winning ways at the expense of Limerick in Castle Road. Mossy O’Sullivan’s side were eager to rebound from a 1-14 to 1-9 defeat at the hands of Tipperary in the opening round of the All-Ireland championship’s group phase.

The newly-crowned Munster champions needed a brace of Lea Meillouin goals, and an Aoife Collins penalty save, to emerge 2-8 to 0-11 winners following a tight encounter with the Shannonsiders.
Katie Crowley, Caoimhe Foley (both Courcey Rovers), Cliona Harte (Barryroe) and Karen O’Sullivan (Newcestown) are Carbery’s representatives on the 2026 Cork minor panel. Harte was on the scoreboard during Sunday’s win over Limerick, firing over an excellent point. Crowley, Foley and O’Sullivan were all part of the Rebels’ match-day panel.
‘It was nip and tuck against Limerick and a game that could have gone either way,’ Mossy O’Sullivan admitted to The Southern Star.
‘I think we probably didn’t perform against Tipperary. Everyone acknowledged that we didn’t perform and were disappointed after that loss. We were only after winning a Munster title the week before and, I suppose, sport can be like that, you’ll be up one day and down the next.
‘In fairness to the players, they stood up tall today against Limerick and I was delighted for them.’
Elsewhere in the All-Ireland camogie minor series, Galway travelled to Dublin and recorded a 3-11 to 1-5 victory. Reigning champions Kilkenny proved too strong for Tipperary, registering an impressive 3-14 to 0-9 win in Fethard.
Cork face Galway, Dublin and Kilkenny in their upcoming group games and remain hopeful of getting back to another All-Ireland Minor final.
‘We have got a bit of momentum now,’ O’Sullivan added.
‘Players are coming back from injury and others are putting their hands up for selection. They are all challenging for places which is the most important thing. This is a self-motivated group that can raise their game in the next few matches which is very important.’
Cork continue their All-Ireland U16A championship with a difficult trip to Kilkenny on Sunday. Ailbhe Byerley, Aoife White, Saoirse Gilmore (all Clonakilty), Amy Walsh (Enniskeane) and Kate O’Mahony (Kilbrittain-Timoleague) are the five Carbery players on this year’s county U16A panel.
The Rebels will be hoping to bounce back from an opening round 2-9 to 1-5 loss at home to Galway. Kilkenny defeated Limerick 2-10 to 1-9 on the same weekend, so a tough match is anticipated.
Cork’s U16Bs are not in action until March 7th when the Rebels are scheduled to travel to Galway. Kilkenny and Tipperary are the other counties competing in the U16 B All-Ireland (development) round-robin group. Anne O’Leary (Bandon) and Julie Canty (Newcestown) are Carbery’s representatives on the U16B panel.
